FAQ

Q: What is the purpose of the Household Health Survey?
A: The survey asks people in Southeastern Pennsylvania about their health, their medical care, and what it is like to live in their neighborhoods. Results are used by health departments, hospitals, universities, and non-profit organizations to protect and improve the health of people in the region.

Q: How did you get my phone number?
A: We have two ways of getting numbers: 1) random digit dialing (RDD); and 2) the list of all registered voters in Southeastern Pennsylvanian, which is public information.

Q: Why are you calling me? I am on the do-not-call list.
A: The Do Not Call list stops sales calls. The Household Health Survey can make calls because we are doing research, not sales.

Q: Why are you asking for a male/female in my household?
A: The survey is open to all regardless of their gender identity. If the youngest person in your household does not identify as either male or female they are welcome to take the survey. We would like to include their experiences.

Q: Is this survey confidential? Will you share my personal information?
A: All your answers are confidential. Your answers will be combined with thousands of other responses so that no one can be identified. We take multiple measures to ensure that your personal information is protected, and we never share your name or email address.

Q: How long will the survey take?
A: The survey takes 20-25 minutes.

Q: Who can I contact about the survey?
A: You can contact Mary Harkins-Schwarz from Public Health Management Corporation with any questions or to learn more about the survey. She can be reached at 215-985-2082 or at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Q: Who is this survey done for?
A: The survey is done for the non-profit organization Public Health Management Corporation (PHMC). PHMC is based in Philadelphia and serves 350,000 clients each year in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Q: Who is calling me on the telephone?
A: PHMC works with SSRS, a national survey company, to make the phone calls. SSRS is located in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania.
